FIBER WITH A PURPOSE

The Clun Forest are a "down breed," producing thick, fine wool with a high crimp that is ideal for spinning and knitting into soft, elastic yarn. Each sheep on our farm grows about 6-8 pounds of fleece per year, measuring anywhere from 3.5 to 5.5 inches in length, depending on the individual. With a natural creamy, white color and a consistent staple length that resists felting, this fleece is ideal for many projects, from squishy, soft sweaters and mittens, to thick blankets and rugs.

Product Details

Our un-dyed Clun Forest roving comes from our own flock of sheep. It has been scoured and carded locally and left in its natural creamy white color.

Clun Forest wool is distinctly springy and elastic and is beloved by handspinners for yarn. It is easy to spin and takes dye very well. Rovings are all well suited for felting and weaving projects.

By purchasing this wool, you are supporting the preservation of an endangered heritage breed, currently designated by the Livestock Conservancy as "Threatened".

From every sale of our fiber products, we donate 1/4 of profits to women-led initiatives in underserved communities around the world. Over the years, we have been fortunate to live and walk alongside many of these women in places like Kenya and Guatemala. In the face of poverty, hunger, and violence, they stand committed to healing the land and raising healthy, thriving families and communities. We honor them and the impact they have had on our lives as we continue to learn from these communities and support their work.
